Haiti and AED Donations

Dear AED Colleagues,

The situation in Haiti is devastating. We have ascertained that our staff there is safe, and we are committing $25,000 of our own resources to assist them and their family members, as well as the families of partner staff. These funds are from donations by board members, senior officers, and other contributors to AED. With our staff and partner staff we are targeting these funds to where they can best be utilized in Haiti.

If you would like to donate to this fund, it would be most welcome and appreciated. Please make the check payable to AED and note Haiti Relief Fund in the memo line and send/bring it to our Vice President for Financial Management and Billing, Paul Turner, Room 842 North Building. We are also providing below a link to other organizations involved in disaster relief in Haiti.

We are also working with our donors to assess how AED can best address the needs of the Haitian people in both the short- and long-term and will provide updates on our efforts.

I want to thank the many staff and officers here and in Haiti and the Dominican Republic who have spent countless hours making sure that all of our staff and partners’ staff are accounted for and making special arrangements for some of their family members who were hurt and out of their homes and in need of assistance. It has been a wonderful and generous outpouring of concern and very practical help. Now many of these staff are working on the plans to followup with new development and humanitarian assistance to Haiti.

Haiti needs our help, and these organizations are accepting donations for immediate disaster relief http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=content.view&cpid=1004).

Sincerely,

Steve Moseley
