Dear Assistant Principal,

Are you interested in preparing to be a principal? Are you interested in a free year-long professional development program focused on both improving your leadership and your expertise in middle schools? If so, the Academy for Educational Development (“AED”) invites you to apply to the AED Leadership Fellows Program, a year-long fully-funded advanced leadership program that prepares you to be a highly qualified middle grades principal. We are currently recruiting a second cohort in the AED Leadership Fellows Program, and we invite your interest and application.

As a member of the AED Leadership Fellows Program, you will attend monthly after school classes that are rigorous and engaging, provide you with feedback and give you an opportunity to learn and build your leadership skills. In addition, you will practice these skills through in-school experiences that you will document in an electronic portfolio. Your expert knowledge about middle schools and adolescent learners will be supported through two full day instructional rounds as well as a weekend retreat. Early in the program you will attend a multi-district leadership institute at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, North Carolina and throughout the year you will be invited to attend other workshops with national experts. You will also be supported through the principal application and selection process with special sessions devoted to preparing for the Principal Pool and C30 interviews.
